Some adjectives are also verbs. For example, you can ‘open a door’ (verb) or the ‘door is open’ (an open door – adjective). The only difference is in the word order; as a verb they come before the noun. Look at the difference in these pairs:
bprà-dtuu bpèrd
an open door
bpèrd bprà-dtuu
open the door
nâa-dtàang bpìd
a closed window
bpìd nâa-dtàang
close the window
thee-wee bpèrd
the TV is on
bpèrd thee-wee
turn on the TV
phád-lom bpìd
the fan is off
bpìd phád-lom
switch off the fan
and in sentences …
dtûu-yen bpèrd, bpìd bprà-dtuu dtûu-yen
the fridge is open, close the fridge door
aae bpèrd láe nâa-dtàang bpèrd, bpìd nâa-dtàang
