verb to be, this & that (exercise 15)

A couple of new words to help build our sentences.

Note: there are specific words for plurals (these & those), but you will never come across them in normal conversation.

nêe

this (these)

nân

that (those)

And the first verb-to-be of three. This one is used with objects (everything except people).

bpen

is, am, are

Using the verb-to-be with a determiner.

nêe bpen gâo-êe

this is a chair

nân bpen thee-wee

that is a TV

nêe bpen jaan

these are plates

nân bpen mùuak

those are hats

Using the verb-to-be with possessives.

nêe bpen khăwng chăn

this is mine

nêe bpen khăwng khun

this is yours

nân bpen gâo-êe khăwng phŏm

that is my chair

nân bpen ród maw-dter-sai khăwng ther

that is her motorcycle

nân bpen nóed-búk mài khăwng Peter

that is Peter’s new notebook

nêe bpen gâeo khăwng chăn láe nân bpen gâeo khăwng khun

this is my glass and that is yours
